The Canterbury A&P Show has delighted visitors – young and old – every year since it began in 1863. With thousands of impressive, rare and cute animals, plenty of retail therapy, the biggest equestrian event in the South Island and fast-paced woodchopping and shearing action throughout the day, there’s a heady mix of things to see and do!
There’s a huge variety of entertainment on offer including headlining act Salmonella Dub, country music star Jody Direen and Christchurch band Nomad. Favourites such as the Shetland Grand National, Ballantynes Grand Parade and Food and Wine NZ Pavilion will all return in 2014 too. New competitions and events include the first ever Riedel New Zealand Young Winemaker of the Year and the chance for children to Have a Go at farming with AgriKidsNZ.
